CNC Turn-mill, or CNC mill-turn can be called as milling and turning combined machining, or milling-turning composite machining. The turning-milling composite machining center is equivalent to a combination of a CNC lathe and a machining center.
Turn-milling compound machine tools are the fastest growing and most widely used CNC equipment among compound processing machine tools. The purpose of compounding is to make a machine tool with versatility, which can complete multiple tasks in one clamping, and improve processing efficiency and processing accuracy.
Compared with conventional CNC machining technology, the outstanding advantages of compound machining are mainly manifested in the following aspects.
(1) The product manufacturing process chain will be shortened and the production efficiency will be improved. Turn-milling can complete all or most of the processing procedures at one time. Thus the product manufacturing process chain will be shortened greatly. In this way, the production assistance time, which is caused by the change of the installation card, will be reduced. And the manufacturing cycle and waiting time of the tooling fixture will be reduced as well. So the production efficiency could be improved significantly.
(2) The number of clamping will be reduced and the processing accuracy will be improved. The reduction in the number of card loading avoided the accumulation of errors which was caused by the conversion of positioning benchmarks. At the same time, most of the turn-milling composite machining equipment has the function of online detection, which can realize the in-situ detection and precision control of key data in the manufacturing process. Thereby the processing accuracy of the product will be improved.
(3) The floor space and the production cost will be reduced. Although the price of a single unit of turn-milling combined machining equipment is relatively high, the overall fixed assets costs of investment, production operation and management can be reduced effectively. Because it will the shorten the manufacturing process chain and reduce of equipment required for products, as well as the number of fixtures, workshop area and equipment maintenance costs.
Features of Turn-milling
1. The turn-milling center uses a high-precision built-in spindle;
2. The freely movable operation panel improves work efficiency;
3. The models are mainly used for mass production of various small parts and complex parts for high-speed processing and diversified processing;
4. The slender and complicated process can be processed and formed at one time, and the automatic feeding device can be configured to improve efficiency;
5. Normal materials: copper, iron, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, teflon and other materials.
The difference between the turn-milling center and the 5-axis milling center is listed below.
1. The turn-milling machining center is a machine tool with B-axis linkage and C-axis linkage that can do turning and milling processing. All processing or most of the processing of a part can be completed on the turn-milling machine tool. So it is also called Small production line. It can not only improve the accuracy of products and the efficiency of processing products, but also save the area of the machine tool for the enterprise greatly. In the past, it was necessary to complete the processing of one part on several machine tools. Now, just one machine can complete all processing. This type of machine tool can also be divided into vertical turn-milling and horizontal turn-milling machine tools.
2. For the five-axis milling center, it can do milling processing only, but without turning. Therefore, there are many limitations in processing for five-axis machining. The turn-milling can cover the processing of the five-axis machining center, but the five-axis can not do the milling-turning compound processing.
